About Alison Munoz
Alison Munoz is a compassionate and experienced registered psychologist with a Master of Applied Psychology (Sport Psychology), completed in 2009. With a broad background spanning clinical and non-clinical roles—including injury management, organisational psychology, EAP counselling, and private practice—Alison brings a well-rounded approach to her work.
In recent years, Alison has focused on providing psychological support to adults and couples in private practice. She is passionate about helping clients navigate life’s challenges with care, respect, and evidence-based strategies.
Therapeutic Approach
Alison creates a warm and supportive environment where clients feel safe and understood. She tailors her approach to each individual, drawing from a variety of evidence-based therapies including:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Mindfulness-based practices
Alison is also trained in the Gottman Method (Level 2) for couples therapy, and integrates Gottman and EFT interventions to strengthen relationships and improve communication.
Outside the Therapy Room
When she’s not working, Alison enjoys life with her husband and two young children. She stays active through bike riding and Pilates, and cherishes time on the Murray River with her family, especially sharing her love of waterskiing with her children.
